Why We've Moved To An Agile Environment

Our clients are our number one priority here at Bloomtools; managing your individual needs in a timely manner is of the utmost importance. To address our in-house values of timeliness while providing high quality outcomes for you, we have switched how we manage our projects.

This switch in management processes amplifies the time our software engineers have to work on keeping the backend of all your sites up to date to meet changes made by Google, varied devices and browsers, as well as the latest trends.

We're moving to an agile environment so we can deliver your projects even better and we've put together a quick notice for your understanding.

What is an agile environment?

An agile process is a way of delivering a project throughout its lifecycle. Agile life cycles involve incremental steps when executing projects vs longer projects, where estimations of times to complete are always inaccurate.

These processes enable us to adjust to rapidly changing requirements by breaking it down into easy-to-manage stages, helping us produce outcomes for our clients and their ever evolving business needs.

We're moving to this type of management process with the key idea of reducing the backlog and estimated times required to complete requests for our valued customers.

What are the 12 principles of agile development?

  • Customer satisfaction
  • Early and continuous delivery
  • Embracing change
  • Frequent delivery
  • Collaboration of businesses and developers
  • Motivating individuals
  • Face-to-face conversations
  • Functional products
  • Technical excellence
  • Simplicity
  • Self-organised teams
  • Regulation, reflection and adjustment

Our key purpose for evolving into this process is flexibility; the team will receive feedback from stakeholders after each "sprint". A sprint is classified as a "short, time-boxed period when a team works to complete a set amount of work and designed to streamline our processes. We run a new sprint every 2 weeks.

If there are any problems and changes, the team can easily and quickly adjust product goals during future sprints to provide more flexibility.  Using this model all customers are happier because they get exactly what they want after being involved in the entire process.
We've combined this model with strict default diaries for our software engineers, allowing them to have allocated separate time for quick tasks, bugs and helping the rest of the team.

Implementing a more effective project management system will give stakeholders more opportunity to provide frequent feedback to reduce the time wasted making changes halfway through development or, worse, having to start projects from scratch after the product has already been built.
