Setting up my email in Outlook 98 or 2000

Make sure that, before setting up your email on your computer, you create a new email account. Do not edit a previously setup account with new details.

  1. From the Tools menu, select Accounts.... If you do not see Accounts... place your cursor over the two arrows at the bottom of the list to display more choices
  2. Click the Add button, then click Mail
  3. Type your name as you would like it to appear when you send an email in the Display name box and click Next
  4. In the Email Address box, enter your email address (e.g. "your- name@your-domain.com") and click Next
  5. In the box labelled My incoming mail server is a... select POP3 server
  6. In the Incoming mail (POP3 or IMAP) server box, type webmail.thewebconsole.com
  7. In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server box, type webmail.thewebconsole.com (if you can't send, you likely have to use your Internet service provider's SMTP mail server). For example, if your website is www.mysite.com, you would enter in mail.mysite.com
  8. Click Next
  9. In the Account Name box, enter your account's full email address (i.e. your-name@your-domain.com)
  10. In the Password box, enter the password that was setup for your email account
  11. Do not check Log On Using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)
  12. Click Next
  13. Type a name for your new Internet email account. This name does not affect any of the account settings, it is just for display purposes
  14. Choose the appropriate connection type under the Which Method Do You Use to Connect to the Internet heading
  15. If you chose Connect using my phone line, you will need to select a dial-up connection in the Dial up Connection Wizard and click NextYou will need to refer to your internet provider for settings and instructions on how to setup your dialup internet account
  16. Click Finish
  17. Restart Microsoft Outlook

Your account should now be setup in Microsoft Outlook.
