The FAQ strategy that helps your website get found, trusted and chosen
)
FAQs are one of the most underused opportunities on a business website.
Used properly, they can help your website answer the questions people are genuinely searching for, build trust, remove common concerns before someone makes contact, and give Google and AI search platforms clearer information about your business.
For Bloomtools clients, we believe FAQs are valuable enough that the FAQ tool is included with your website. The technical schema markup is already handled for you, so you can focus on the most important part, creating genuinely useful answers based on what your customers actually want to know.
The key is not simply having FAQs.
It is having the right FAQs.
Your Customers Are Already Giving You Your Best FAQ Ideas
Think about the questions your team answers every day.
Before someone books, buys, enquires or requests a quote, they are usually trying to fill gaps in their knowledge.
They may ask:
- How much does it cost?
- How long does it take?
- Which option is right for me?
- What happens after I enquire?
- Do you service my area?
- What is included?
- Is there a warranty?
- What do I need to prepare beforehand?
- What happens if something goes wrong?
- Can this be customised?
These questions are valuable because they show what matters to your customers before they make a decision.
Answer them clearly on your website and you can help someone move one step closer to choosing your business.
Leave them unanswered and they may go back to Google, ask an AI tool, contact a competitor or simply decide they are not ready to enquire.
FAQs Can Help You Capture More Specific Searches
Most service pages naturally target broader topics.
A builder might have a page about home renovations.
An accountant may have a page about business accounting.
A blinds company may have a page about plantation shutters.
But customers often search in much more specific ways.
For example:
“What does a kitchen renovation usually cost?”
“Are plantation shutters suitable for bathrooms?”
“How long does it take to set up a business structure?”
“Can outdoor blinds be used in windy areas?”
These longer questions often reveal exactly what someone is thinking about.
Adding useful FAQs to the relevant page gives you an opportunity to answer those specific searches naturally, without having to create a completely separate webpage for every possible question.
It also helps make the page more useful overall.
FAQs Are Valuable for Both Traditional Search and AI Search
The way people search is changing.
People are still using Google, but they are also asking complete questions through Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini and other AI platforms.
That makes clear, useful answers even more important.
A well-written FAQ naturally creates a strong question-and-answer structure.
For example:
Question:
“Can outdoor blinds be used in windy areas?”
A weak answer would be:
“Yes, outdoor blinds can be suitable for windy areas.”
A more useful answer would be:
“Outdoor blinds can work well in windy locations, but the right system will depend on how exposed the area is, the size of the opening and the type of blind you choose. In particularly exposed areas, it is worth discussing wind ratings and fixing options before selecting your blind.”
The second answer gives the customer something useful.
It also demonstrates real knowledge.
That is the type of content you want more of on your website.
Our Best Tip: Interview the Person Who Talks to Customers Most
This is one of the easiest ways to uncover high-value FAQ content.
Do not start by asking AI to create a generic list of questions.
Instead, find the person in your business who speaks to customers most about that particular service or product.
That could be your:
- Salesperson
- Receptionist
- Customer service person
- Technician
- Installer
- Consultant
- Practitioner
- Account manager
- Business owner
Then record a 15 to 30 minute conversation with them.
Ask questions like:
- What does nearly every customer ask?
- What do people often misunderstand?
- What are they nervous about?
- What usually stops someone going ahead?
- What do people ask about price?
- What do they wish they had known earlier?
- What mistakes do people commonly make?
- How do customers decide between different options?
- What question do you wish more customers would ask?
- What do you normally explain before someone makes a decision?
This is where the best content usually appears.
The people who speak to your customers every day often hold years of useful knowledge that has never made it onto your website.
And there is another bonus. That same interview can become the foundation for several other pieces of marketing content, which we will show you below.
Then Use AI to Turn That Knowledge Into Useful Content
Once you have recorded the conversation, AI becomes incredibly useful.
Transcribe the interview and ask your preferred AI tool to help you:
- Identify the strongest customer questions.
- Group similar questions together.
- Remove duplicates.
- Write clearer, more concise answers.
- Keep the specific knowledge shared by your team member.
- Identify areas that need more detail.
- Suggest questions that could become larger articles or videos.
The important part is the order.
Your team supplies the experience.
AI helps organise and improve it.
Think of AI as the editor, not the expert.
That approach gives you content that is faster to create, but still genuinely reflects your business knowledge.
Use FAQs to Remove Buying Friction
Not every valuable FAQ needs to attract search traffic.
Some of your best FAQs may simply help someone feel comfortable enough to contact you.
For example:
- Do you provide an upfront quote?
- Will I be locked into a contract?
- Can you work around our business hours?
- What happens after I book?
- What support is available afterwards?
- Can this integrate with the systems I already use?
- What happens if I change my mind?
These are important because they address uncertainty.
Your website can answer part of the sales conversation before your team ever speaks to the customer.
That often means the person who eventually contacts you is more informed and more confident about taking the next step.
Put FAQs on the Page Where They Matter
Do not automatically create one enormous FAQ page and put everything there.
If someone is reading about commercial solar, show them commercial solar questions.
If they are reading about bookkeeping, show them bookkeeping questions.
If they are comparing different types of shutters, answer those questions on the relevant shutters page.
Placing FAQs close to the service or product they relate to makes the page more useful and keeps the customer moving through their research without needing to look elsewhere.
A central FAQ page can still be helpful, but your strongest questions should also appear where they are most relevant.
A Simple Two-Month FAQ Challenge for Your Business
Over the next two months, set a simple goal for your business:
Add, update or expand the FAQs for each major service, product or category listed on your website.
For many businesses, the first step may be creating a proper page of content for each key service or product category. Once those pages are in place, FAQs can make them even more useful and more visible.
You do not need to overhaul your whole website in one go. Start with one service or product category each week.
One 20-Minute Interview Could Fuel Weeks of Marketing Content
The best part is that these short interviews can be used for much more than FAQs.
A 20-minute conversation with a team member could become:
- FAQs for a service page
- A blog article
- A social media post
- A Google Business Profile update
- A client newsletter topic
- A short video script
- A downloadable guide
- A sales handout
For example, a conversation about custom roller blinds could become:
- 8 FAQs for your roller blinds page
- A blog on choosing blinds for hot rooms
- A Facebook post about reducing glare
- A short video explaining motorised blind options
- A newsletter article about preparing for summer
- A Google Business Profile post promoting free measure and quote appointments
That is one small conversation doing a lot of useful work. Efficient, practical and much better than staring at a blank screen wondering what to write. We have all been there, coffee in hand, cursor blinking, inspiration nowhere to be found.
Why This Matters More Than Ever
The goal is not simply to have more content on your website. It is to make your website more useful.
The more clearly you answer the real questions your customers ask, the easier it becomes for people, Google and AI search platforms to understand your expertise and decide whether your business is relevant to them.
A good FAQ section is not just a list of questions. It is a trust-building tool. It helps people understand what you do, why it matters and whether you are the right fit for them.
